Children’s Discovery Center offers an accredited Pre-K/Kindergarten program that’s perfect for children with late birthdays, and gives your child the gift of extra time to grow, learn, and mature. This class is primarily for children who missed the August 31, 2016 cut-off date or children who would like to improve their skills prior to attending kindergarten. This classroom is to educate children with the Common Core Educational Plan that has been adopted by the Wake County School System. Our children are actively engaged in academic centers including but not limited to alphabetic principles, mathematical awareness of numbers 0 through 100, science, social studies as well as reading, writing and spelling. Our classroom provides opportunities to enhance social development and emotional aptitude and insure it is within the parameters of handling large group situations.
Our gifted lead teacher has 20 years of Pre K/ Kindergarten experience and has previously taught Kindergarten in Wake County Public Schools. She will help you assess at the end of the school year whether your child is ready to move into First Grade or would benefit by being one of the older children in Public Kindergarten.
Our goal at CDC is to give our kindergarten students a strong foundation so that they will continue their love of learning throughout their lives.
